THE CHRYSALIDS ESSAY
YOUR TASK:
1. You are to write a 5 paragraph essay on one of the following topics about The Chrysalids.
This must be handed in to Mr. Ahumada in paper, as well as online, and evaluated before you start writing your rough draft.
9. Write your rough draft. Your good copy will not be evaluated unless you hand in a written rough copy.
10. You must upload or copy paste your rough draft onto the page you have created no later than April 5th, 2011.
YOUR TASK IN A GROUP:
1. You are divided into groups of four. In these groups, each student is asked to edit one section of the essay.
Each student needs to choose a highlighter color for editing purposes.
Example:
Person 1: This is your Essay Person 2: Introductory Paragraph Person 3: Body Paragraphs Person 4: Concluding Paragraph
When you are done editing, you are asked to answer two questions. One of these questions corresponds to the section of the essay
you edited while the other asks you about the overall impression of the essay.
The questions are as follows: (Copy them onto your page for your group members)
Person 1 - Introduction Paragraph
1.Does the introduction paragraph grab your attention? Does it anticipates an insightful thesis?
2.How strong is the development of the argument for the whole essay?
Person 2 - Body Paragraphs
1.How well are the quotations integrated and analysed? Have they been chosen with care and taken from a variety of chapters?
2.How strong is the development of the argument for the whole essay?
Person 3 - Concluding Paragraph
1.Does the conclusion include a reworded thesis, summary.
2. Does the conclusion have a memorable ending?
3.How strong is the development of the argument for the whole essay?
AND FINALLY 2. Write your good copy according to MLA format and guidelines and Hand In to Mr. A.
You are also asked to upload it to this wiki under the name "Your name_Final_March12.doc"
You are evaluated on the process by which you finish this essay, not just the end product.
You cannot leave this assignment for the last minute. Your group members work depends on your cooperation and
time-management.
